We had no clue what this tree was. We noticed a Portuguese couple picking and eating the red fruits so when they had slated their fill and moved on we tried it. It tasted OK but had an unpleasant grainy texture that took ages to get out of your teeth. We discovered later it is called a strawberry tree, I think we will stick to the real thing.
