Sites Winter 2014/15

Site No 140 - Camping Laredo Cat.2

This was a site we visited only because it was just 45 minutes from the ferry port at Bilbao, the pitches were flat and reasonably spacious although a bit close together.

The facilities were new and clean and contained all the necessaries but had no windows just big empty spaces where windows should be in a part of Spain this far north.

Site No 139 - Camping El Helguero

This was a very pleasant site which if you followed the site plan has very small pitches, however while we were there campers were setting up were they fancied, indeed we took up three or four official pitches. At the time of year we were there no-one on the staff was worried but I would imagine this attitude would change during the high season.

While we were there the site tended to be used as a transit site from and to Santander and Bilbao on their way south to the southern Costas.

The showers and toilets were clean although in need of refurbishment, loo roll, soap and drying facilities were all provided.

Good site to which we will return.

Site No 138 - Camping Fuentes Blancas

Site No 137 - Camping Parque Nacional de Monfragüe

Site No 136 - Camping Alentejo

This is one of our favourite Portuguese camp sites our report on the site can be read HERE

Site No 135 - Campsite La Sierrecilla

We have visited this site and written a report that you can see by clicking HERE

Site No 134 - Camping Jávea

We have stayed at this site twice before and have been very happy. We noted that some turns of the main site road to side roads was “a bit tight”. This visit we had to un-hitch the van take it round the corner on the mover and re-hitch, a pain but easy enough.

Since we first came here the local dogs have had singing lessons and hold regular concerts, some in the middle of the night and the internet is very poor.

Despite what we wrote after our last visit, much of which still holds good I doubt very much if we will ever return.

Site No 133 - Campsite La Sierrecilla

This is a relatively new site with very reasonable reviews about half way between Granada and Seville, It is very close to the main Seville/Granada road and accessed through good wide roads and there is good signage as you approach the village.

Last visit was cut short by barking dogs as this one may have been but I have mellowed (slightly, very, very slightly) and as there are some good places to visit locally decided to break out the ear-plugs and stay a few days.

We tried the site restaurant during this visit, we had a pretty good meal at a reasonable price.

The review I wrote on our last visit is still relevant and can be accessed by clicking HERE

Site No 132 - Parque de Campismo da PSP

Eurocamping

This is a very ordinary site in many respects but strange in that the preferred option of many campers is to set up on the various roadways rather than the actual camping field.

The site is we understand owned by the Portuguese Police who use it during three months of the summer for use by serving police officers and their families but for the remainder of the year is run by the local authority and open to the public.

Since we were last here one of the two toilet/shower blocks has been completely refurbished while the second is in the process of refurbishment. Sadly the showers were cold or if you were very lucky luke warm so we used the shower in our caravan. The facilities were kept clean although toilet paper, soap and hand drying facilities were not provided.

There were many long stayers on the site but I feel this is a site more suited to a short stay.

Site No 131 - La Aldea

ACSI Logo

We have been to this site twice previously and found it to be a good site but as said elsewhere unless you are a keen naturalist there is little to keep you here after a good look around the town and a “safari” into the Donana National Park and a run to the coast at Matalascañas.
